I, like other users, found this pad a bit thin, but that being said our Pekingese prefers being on thinner cushions because it keeps him cooler. I keep it in a pillow case to prevent it from slipping and when it's hot out I place a frozen cooling pad beneath the pad and it works great. I guess you could purchase more than one to add additional padding.
