What Every Pet Parent Should Know About Their Aging Dog
When your furry family members mean the world to you and you see them dealing with the challenges of aging, you want to do something about it. You may be asking...
Can my aging dog live life to the fullest even if they have bladder challenges and mobility issues?
Is there a solution that gives my dog the confidence to do all of the things he or she has always loved?
YES and YES, there is! When my Frenchie, Churchill, got older and couldn’t control his bladder anymore, I couldn’t find anything that helped keep messes at bay and Churchill’s dignity in place.
It was heartbreaking that he felt like he was doing something wrong even though it was out of his control. I remember the first time I put a disposable diaper on him, it fell off in a matter of seconds and the crinkling plastic noise drove both of us mad. Churchill would look up at me, his head tilted in true dog fashion, and I just knew he was saying, “Come on, mom. This is pathetic. You’re cramping my style.”
So I took matters into my own hands. Long before my company Dog Quality sold specialized assistance products for senior dogs, I was inventing my own solutions for my aging dogs. I hand-sewed and rigged a gazillion contraptions, my diapers and traction socks being two of my favorites. I tried them on my dogs and re-invented the diapers and socks over and over again until finally both my dogs and I loved them.
Every feature of Dog Quality products is designed with the challenges I’ve faced as a pet parent myself. I’m proud to say that we now make and assemble most of our products in-house.
First, maybe you’re wondering what makes Dog Quality different. It’s a question I love to answer:
- Dog Quality is made in North America, meaning the vast majority of our products are crafted and hand-assembled in-house by a small team of dog lovers.
- Our dog-first philosophy drives our exceptional customer service. We have a genuine desire to improve the lives of older dogs, one dog at a time.
- You can count on our Washable Wonders dog diapers being hand-sewn with love from our family to yours. We believe that doggy diapers can help your dog live more purposefully by removing the shame and distress they feel when they can’t make it outside for a potty break.
- Our traction socks have an innovative design that provides a grip around the entire paw so that even if the socks twist, your dog will continue to have the traction they need. They can get around with ease on tricky surfaces, like hardwood or tile floors, and you can have peace of mind knowing they’ll stay on their feet.
“Your company name says it all. Charlie is 16 and is now blind and deaf. Charlie always would scratch at the door to go out but he's not able to do this anymore so we are trained to take him out on a regular basis. It has been such a life-saver to have these diapers when we go out and don't have to worry about coming home to an unhappy embarrassed dog and messy kennel or floor. We would highly recommend your product and thanks again for the incredible customer service.”
“The socks have given my dog Pepper a new life. Earlier she was not able to get up since her legs would keep slipping and were losing strength. It took almost half an hour to make her stand up. She was very miserable. We were also wondering how long she could carry on like this. Now with the gripper socks she is up on her feet within seconds and she is able to move around a lot. Her confidence seems to have come back and she feels happy. And we are also relieved and happy.”- Shashikala Ravi, Maharashtra, India
“A Senior Dog Owner Must! My 14 year old senior cocker spaniel rescue is now free to roam the house, get on the furniture etc without the fear of a giant mess! I recommend these to all my rescue friends. The inserts are also great at stretching out time between washes. I also bought the bag to contain the soiled diaper smell until laundry day!- Sandra Shadic, Marietta, Georgia.
It’s my life’s mission to bring hope and happiness to senior dogs and the humans who love them so that both you and your dog can enjoy more quality time together. - Ann-Marie Flemming, Founder of Dog Quality
